History
• In the Spring of 2006, Alpha Iota
Omicron, Lambda Theta Alpha, Lambda Upsilon Lambda, Sigma Beta Rho, and Sigma
Sigma Rho came together to discuss the formation of a new council that would
compensate for the lack of unity amongst multi-cultural Greek-lettered
organizations
• The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) was formally recognized and
established on December 8, 2006 at Georgia Tech
• The first executive board was voted in during the Spring of 2007
• The MGC currently consists of seven organizations, four fraternities and
three sororities
• It is focused on educating the campus about our organizations, serving
the campus and community through cooperation, communication, and participation,
and trying to educate other minority Greek organizations that are underground
about the council
• The council strives to develop unity and provide support for our member
organizations
• Finally, the council would like to welcome its newest organization, Xi
Kappa, to campus and hopes that other interested organizations will soon follow
in their footsteps
Why Join MGC?
• Official governing body on campus capable
of chartering new organizations
• Increase awareness and publicity of member organizations
• Build contacts with other councils and organizations on campus
• Multicultural interests and resources |
