Greetings Yellow Jackets, On behalf of everyone in the Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), I would like to welcome you back to school. The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), established on December 8, 2006, is comprised of 7 fraternities and sororities of Asian, South Asian and Latino interest. While these organizations are oriented towards a certain culture, each of them is open to membership from any race or ethnicity. Our mission is to educate the campus about the council and its member organizations, to unify and support these organizations and ultimately, to encourage membership of underground minority Greek organizations. We ended the spring semester with our First Annual MGC Banquet. The banquet, which was held on April 20th, brought together members of all the organizations within MGC and recognized all those individuals and organizations that had made significant contributions to the Council as well as the larger Greek Community. MGC organizations also participated in the Greek Stroll-Off held during Greek Week. The First Place, for the Men’s and Women’s categories, was clinched by MGC organizations. It is a very exciting time right now in the Greek Community with the onset of all the fall activities. We kick-off fall semester with our Rush events: MGC BBQ and Meet the Greeks. Both these events will showcase all the organizations in MGC and we encourage everyone to come out and learn more about our council. Also, for the first time, MGC will be participating in Intramurals, Team Buzz and Homecoming Week. Currently, the MGC Executive Board is working with the Homecoming Chairs to include a Cultural Showcase Competition during Homecoming Week. More information about this event will be publicized as we finalize things. Finally, we will conclude the Semester with an End-of-Year Retreat to celebrate all our successes and to welcome the new members of MGC. For more information about our events and all upcoming activities, please visit www.gatechmgc.com. The Multicultural Greek Council, along with the support of the Interfraternity Council, Collegiate Panhellenic Council and the National Pan-Hellenic Council, is here to welcome any culture and we proudly celebrate Greek Life at Tech. All the councils will be working closely to promote the Unity within Greek Life at Tech. If you have any questions about MGC, our recruitment process or the Greek Community in general, please feel free to contact me. Regards, Karan Jhurani MGC President
